Grave Marker

A grave marker, sometimes called a pet memorial marker, is simply one form of the many types of pet memorial plaques or pet memorials that are intended to mark the spot where the pet is interned or generally placed at ground level simply as a memorial without the remains of the pet. A pet memorial marker can be the standard ¼ – ½ inch thickness plaque, or a much thicker plaque ranging 1 or 2 inches. The cost of pet memorial plaques increase with the thickness and other dimensions proportionately.

What Type of Grave Marker?

Selecting the correct type of stone for a grave marker or memorial stone must be made. Although both marble and granite make excellent pet memorials, the granite is better suited for outdoors as opposed to marble as a grave marker. The reason is that the polished attributes of marble will cause a bit more maintenance due to adverse weather conditions. Granite is less highly polished and therefore it may be the better choice. It is also more impervious to adverse weather conditions. A pet memorial marker is but one of many pet memorial products, but it should be considered.

When pet memorial plaques are used as grave markers, they generally are located where the pet is buried. However not all grave markers have to be situated this way. A pet memorial marker can be imbedded in the ground, but it does not necessarily have to be over the grave of the pet. It can simply be placed on a lawn or a garden area of the home of the pet owner. This type of memorial plaque servers well in this capacity.

Grave Marker Without a Grave

A memorial marker for a pet need not always indicate where the pet is buried, in fact many people how have their pets cremated purchase a pet immemorial plaque, or other type of grave marker without ever having the intension of marking the actual grave, if in fact there is one. There are no hard and fast rules when it come to a grave marker.
